what I actually use

GEAR,
TOOLS &
EVERYTHING
IN BETWEEN.

Everything here is part of my real routine. I have tested it, I use it regularly, and I am comfortable recommending it. If I stop reaching for it, it comes off this page. That is the only rule.

Start Here

Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra This is my main phone and I use it for everything — filming, staying organized, and editing clips on the go.
DJI Mic Mini My favorite beginner mic. Super lightweight, easy to use, and flexible enough to connect to a phone, camera, or DJI camera setup.
LUXSURE Ring Light Tripod A very easy beginner setup because it gives you a tripod, phone mount, and ring light in one. Great if you want something simple.
SmallRig Camera Tripod A heavier-duty tripod if you want to invest a little more. Works for both a camera and a phone and is easy to adjust.
Hohem iSteady M6 Gimbal A really strong smartphone gimbal if you want smoother movement without jumping straight into a full camera setup.

DJI Osmo Action 6 One of my two main cameras right now. Lightweight, easy to use, and really good for filming both inside and outside.
DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro A lighter, easy-to-use action camera option that works really well indoors or outdoors and also connects wirelessly with DJI mics.

Microphone

DJI Mic 3 A more advanced microphone setup that still feels easy to use and sounds really good across different filming setups.

Main Lighting

amaran 200x S This is the main light I use now. It gives me much more flexibility and power when I want a better-looking setup.
Godox S85T Quick Release Softbox This is the big softbox I pair with my main light when I want softer, more polished light.
NEEWER 10ft Heavy Duty Light Stand A heavy-duty rolling stand that has been a lifesaver in my office because it is easy to move and does not feel bulky.

Budget Light Alternative

amaran 60dS If you want a more budget-friendly light that can still grow with you, this is a really good place to start.
Godox CS-65T Lantern Softbox This is the lantern softbox I would pair with the 60dS if you want a softer, simple budget lighting setup.
NEEWER 10ft Heavy Duty Light Stand A sturdy rolling stand if you want the budget light setup to feel easier to move and live with.

Tripod & Storage

ULANZI MT-78 Tripod This is one of my favorite tripods because it feels like a really good balance between lightweight and sturdy.
PNY 128GB microSDXC 2-Pack You really never want to run out of storage, and these are the cards I keep on hand for action cameras and everyday filming.

Desk Setup

Insta360 Link 2 My go-to webcam. It gives a really clear picture and has a built-in gimbal with auto-tracking, so it follows you as you move.

SmallRig Camera Desk Mount A really useful desk mount for lights and cameras when you want to keep your setup cleaner and off the tabletop.
Elgato Wave Mic Arm A really nice mic arm that feels smooth to move around and helps keep extra table noise out of the microphone.
FIFINE USB/XLR Dynamic Microphone A super affordable microphone option that gives you a lot of flexibility without making the setup feel too complicated.
